Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #81

TMNT #81 is a setup issue, but it is a good setup issue. The new status quo is set and the Rat King comes back to visit New York City. I am pretty sure there is also a heavy The Warriorshomage going on in a gang fight scene. That being one of my favorite movies, TMNT gets bonus points. There are a lot of moving pieces and things going on in the TMNT Universe at the moment and this issue gets the reader caught up on all of that, or at least the major points. Read Full Review

Ultimately then, while the actual progression is fairly minimal here, this feels like an almost tangible slowing down of things after the cartoony chaos of the Triceraton Invasion. If you are not reading Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles you are seriously missing out. With every issue the story between the pages keeps you hooked and wanting more. As a Ninja Turtles fan this series is one of the best comic books around. With the new Rat King Story arc, we will see Leo, Mikey, Donnie, and Raph try to rebuild New York, fight a new army, and try to get their family back together. A huge step up in Artwork! This is a fun story that is just getting started. Old enemies, new alliances, and fragile friendships. We continue to hear the spot on character dialogue that we come to expect in this series ( Except with Splinter that I am still struggling to truly understand). Good book to jump into the action, since the lackluster arc ending issue #80. Check this one out, it looks like some old fashion Turtle Fun! Read Full Review

I love the way the turtles Are drawn and this issue as a whole had some beautiful moments artistically. Ending was whatever but the rest of the issue was a good enjoyable read.

definitely an improvement for the series. a step in the right direction at least! a good issue, cant say it was a great issue though. it really started losing me towards the middle. i think Tom Waltz needs to ease back on the set-ups and focus more on moving his plot. the story has been dragging for WAY too long and needs to get going. there were some cool moments like the Leo/Splinter meditation juxtaposition. i'm not a fan when the Ninja Turtles are written so goody goody and sanctimoniously. like they are the moral beacon of goodness for the entire universe or something. they come off as very two dimensional when they are written like that. hope the improvements continue, and it's good to see the Ninja Turtles getting som e focus in the story again. comicbook round up credits Brahm Revel for the art, but it's actually Dave Wachter. more
