Fanlight Zone - Richard Coryell
Mar 04, 2026Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring #6 ends this arc in a fantastic and awesome way. The evilness that is shown by Samantha solidifies her as one of the greatest horror villains in comic book history. The storybook art makes the horror of the story much more chilling. This has been an awesome series, and this finale delivers and then some. Not only is this my Pick of the Week, but also an early nominee for issue, series, and arc of the year! Mar 03, 2026Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring #6 closes with fire, chaos, and a deeply unsettling calm at its center. Sam’s calculated destruction of her own town cements her as more than a meticulous killer. She is someone willing to erase everything to survive. Horvath balances that cold brutality with flashes of humanity through Mrs. Burrow and the neighborhood turtle, reinforcing that even in the worst circumstances, compassion still exists. The ambiguity surrounding Monica leaves a noticeable gap, but the thematic punch lands hard. If this truly is the end, it is a bold one. If not, the groundwork for an even bigger chapter is already smoldering. Read Full Review

KPB Comics - Stan West
Mar 04, 2026Woodbrook’s monster now prowls the entire country. Samantha has no genuine friends, family, or community, making her escape all too easy. Horvath’s art makes the violence visceral, and his exploration of a killer’s psyche is chilling. Samantha has earned her place among fiction’s most evil characters.< Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Mar 04, 2026It might have been all too easy to really light-up the page with the last big moments of the current series. Horvath allows the generally calm and somber energy of the series to continue as the tragedy mounts. It's a clever approach that will continue to pay off as Sam approaches her next inevitable series. There has been some evolution of Sam's character over the course of the past 11 issues of the series. And now there's a sudden jolt in a completely different direction. It would be interesting to see what a third series might bring. Read Full Review
