Three great stories and one that's gorgeous but lacks in story is a win for me. Chances are the odds are good you'll find something here you'll love. Read Full Review

This book was like reading one of those Highlights magazines, except this wasn't really for children. The stories are great considering their length. All of the endings were sad, which isn't bad. There was a conclusion and not every story has a happy ending. I'm still unsure about the name, but maybe that's supposed to be the link between stories? The art styles of the books were nice. I can't pick a favorite, but they fit their respective stories. Don't expect anything constant when picking up this book, but you can expect some laid back reading. Read Full Review

This represents IDW giving a lot of new artists exposure in the larger market.  Is it Eisner-level material? No, it is not.  IT is important to allow artists to take risks - this is where talent develops, and all of these artists and writers are using this as an opportunity to take risks.  IDW deserves credit to sharing Amazing Forest with a larger audience. Short, but far from sweet, this collection of bleak fables are clearly the product of twisted imaginations, and its dark sensibilities will surely captivate those of a similar mind. Read Full Review

Overall, this book was interesting to say the least. All of the stories were unique, and some were a little disturbing. I would say that this is worth reading if you are looking for something off the beaten path when it comes to entertainment. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Jim Johnson

Farinas' painfully detailed cover is somewhat evocative of the issue's first story, with an obscenely armed robotic construct taking on a Buddha-faced slime alien, and makes the issue almost impossible not to least peek through -- something potential readers can do now that a physical copy of the issue exists. "Amazing Forest" #1 contains a varied assortment of stories, and -- while not all of them will please every reader -- there's enough within to satisfy anyone looking for something well off the beaten path.
