May 16, 2003Between the main plot, Mr. Lash strengthens the continuity of the series. Byrd's outrage at Alanna tuning out Iain for the lascivious and nauseating Chase Hawkins instantly snaps readers right back to the personal lives of the Counselors of the Macabre. Corey Wolff, Alanna's sister, is turning out to be a better assistant than Mavis ever could have hoped for, and new character Roberta Bronski a reporter of the macabre makes a memorable debut.
