  Bunn and Timpano quickly found their groove as a creative team, and each works to compliment the other. Bun's writing gives Timpano room to show his versatility, from the bright lights of the Jazz Age and the noir atmosphere of the criminal underworld to the supernatural horror of the monsters brought in to hunt down THE SHADOW. Timpano's artwork gives reality to Bunn's vision without overpowering it. He manages to capture the writer's vision and sense of atmosphere. The editors need to keep Bunn and Timpano together as a creative team. They are not only perfect for the SHADOW and other pulp-revival characters, but they would make an excellent creative team for horror comics. Read Full Review

  The last issue, I recommended you buy it if you were half interested in the synopsis and the character; for a dollar, you really couldn't go wrong. This issue, however, is a great comic book in it's own right. It's not quite a standalone issue in that reading The Shadow Vol. 2 #1 may be advantageous to your enjoyment, but it's certainly not required. Compared to the prior issue, this is head and shoulders above it, and if the series continues on this trajectory then now is the time to hop on board. Read Full Review

  The Shadow continues to be an exciting pulp tale, as despite this second issue failing to entice on the same level as the first, it continues to give great depth to its story. It also gives us a wonderful insight into the Shadow's psyche, as we learn more about both our main character and his magician foes. Read Full Review

  Bounding Into Comics - John F. Trent

  This is much improved from the first issue. Bunn has introduced a viable villain with some nasty plans and he explores parts of The Shadow's personality that don't seem to get all that much attention. There are some minor hiccups with transitions and the faulty editing with the duplicate dialogue, but the writing is much more interesting and there don't seem to be continuity problems. Giovanni Timpano's artwork is much sharper with some extremely compelling close-ups of The Shadow's face and a compelling flashback scene detailing the Last Illusion's origin. Read Full Review
