While I may grouse a bit about the need for an ongoing Bond series based on how well the minis have worked after the original ongoing was problematic, I'm not holding that against Pak or Laming. The pair with Triona Farrell have put in a solid couple of issues here that has me interested in seeing where it goes and how big it is, though part of me is worried about it being written for trade-length and the restrictions that come from that. James Bond 007 #2 very much has a cinematic feel to it, as it has every right to. It is part of an exciting storyline that mirrors the paperback adventures of Bond, and makes you comfortable with the details you know and receptive to what you do not. I myself have a large collection of the 1960's era Signet novels, and this fully has a similar feel to those originals as penned by Ian Fleming. It is all together a solid, entertaining book. Maybe it isn't 2006 Casino Royale quality, yet, but it sure as hell is leaps and bounds above 1967 Casino Royale. JAMES BOND 007 #2 is a good story with solid product from a great team of creators. While the issue does have some low points, particularly in places where Bond doesn't exactly appear to be the best at his job in surpring un-Bond-like fashion, the issue is very much exactly what you'd expect from an issue bearing the famous secret agent's name. Read Full Review
