Apr 05, 2023This is a great new addition to The Lion King saga. Disney Villains: Scar #1 showcases Scars ruthlessness without making the reader feel sympathy for him. So many stories want to make us feel sorry for the villains, but this makes sure to keep Scar as the evil creature that he is, all the while showing new layers to his character. In fact, this story even shows more potential reasons for his motivation to kill and usurp Mufasa. There are also hints of whats to come. What do you think will happen next, and how might it connect to the events of the movie? Read Full Review

Apr 05, 2023Disney Villains: Scar #1 is a solid start. It does a fantastic job of forging its own path of a story while also weaving that through an established and loved story that has existed for decades. It's additive in that way presenting a main character we know we're supposed to hiss at but the comic delivers just enough to feel some sympathy too. Read Full Review

Apr 07, 2023This is an issue that simply does not live up to its potential. It does not add any depth to the character of Scar and feels isolated and dull. The introduction of the Bone Eaters only leads us further away from any meaningful character interaction with the main cast. We would be better off with a prequel series with a more sympathetic Scar and a more consistent edge to the art style. Read Full Review
