World's Finest #29

Worlds' Finest #30 was an interesting read that I think fans of Earth 2 should get a hold of if they'd like to fill a few gaps in to some of the best parts of Earth 2. Other than that it was a good start to the begging of the first Apokolips war and the end of the series. Now I'm interested to see what this story will go with the secret history of Earth 2 for the next couple of months to come. Read Full Review

Worlds' Finest #29 was a fun read. We finally pick up the pace with dealing with Intri and Apokolips' upcoming invasion along with finally getting a Batman adventure with the actually Dark Knight himself. New readers can easily jump into the series which is a little odd, but cool that it's given some readers a chance to get more Earth 2 fun. Read Full Review

Overall: At least this book is moving away from any kind of origin story and is thankfully passing over how Clark met Bruce. There is no way this book will ever be groundbreaking or revelatory in any way, that's just the nature of it. Providing an in-depth history into the destruction of Earth 2, however, holds some promise for entertaining story-telling. Read Full Review

Even with the shift in direction to this title, it feels like it can't help but be a waste of time to the reader.  For this story arc we're jumping into different points in the lives of Batman and Superman of Earth 2 that led to the events of the Apokolips War and while that might initially sound interesting, the outcome is anything but.  This title was just announced to be cancelled and since we already know the outcome to these two character's stories, I really don't see the point in reading them anymore. Worlds' Finest has turned into a strange comic. It's still enjoyable but unlike the run with Huntress and Power Girl there is no cohesive story that one issue builds from the previous. These issues are honestly random flashbacks narrated by Red Tornado/Lois Lane. It's still a fun comic but so far all of them feel like one-shots. Yes you do get a character back from the last issue when Wonder Woman saves Bruce and Clark as kids but that's about it. I am enjoying the unique artwork though, it reminds me of the Bronze age with the cartoony rendering.
