These critiques aside, what WONDER WOMAN #50 does a great job at is keeping true to Diana's character for both first-time and long-time readers without sacrificing the story. Where it falls short is in the plot development, editing and art departments. Looking past these concerns, though, WONDER WOMAN #50 gives you a good snapshot of where Wonder Woman is at right now in the comics. She's strong and tenacious, but also caring and yearning for peaceful resolution even if she knows it can never come. Is it a great issue? No, but it does well enough to make you see the potential in both Wonder Woman and the team writing her. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Eric Shea

We continue our Wonder Woman trying to save Baby Zeke story with this over-sized fiftieth issue, but where this series has been a bit lackluster, I have to say that I liked this one a little more than usual, even though it was hurt by Wonder Woman stating the same things over and over again in what seemed like padding for the issue.  We did get a really good backup though featuring Donna Troy so even though this issue still had its problems, it was enjoyable for the most part and the art looked great. I really enjoyed Donna Troy's backup story, but it feels like the writer didn't know how to fully resolve the conflict or the character. Read Full Review

Very talky and awkward script, fair-to-middling art, all combining for a not-particularly memorable experience. But, hey, Donna Troy exists again! Read Full Review

I'm eager to see what the next creative team will do with this series when the Finchs' run comes to a close in May. Meredith Finch has certainly improved greatly during her time here, but it's still not quite at an even keel; often, the basic ideas feel like they're just lacking the level of polish needed in the execution. I do wish her well with future assignments, though, and hopefully that continued growth will continue. In the meantime, it feels like "Wonder Woman" is due for a new set of hands to guide her forward. Read Full Review

Ultimately, we know that the Finches' time on Wonder Woman is coming to a close, and with a dream team like Greg Rucka, Liam Sharp and Nicola Scott taking the baton, it's going to be hard to look back on this particular run warmly. But there are glimmers of something deeper underneath this journeyman work, which might have to be enough until Diana leads the post-Rebirth charge. Read Full Review

This series continues to suffer from the same woes that have plagued it since the current creative team took over in 2014. The dialogue and narration alike are excessive and overwrought Read Full Review

I tend to think that Wonder Woman is one of my favorite DC characters, and maybe that explains this viscerally strong negative reaction. That, and this was an oversized issue that was actually a standard issue and a back up. After this issue, the relaunch cannot come fast enough. Read Full Review
