Sep 30, 2026Wonder Woman 2026 Annual: Wonder War – The Matriarch Issue #1 was definitely not what I expected but was even better than I assumed. This was emotionally driven to the point that you find yourself emotionally connected to The Matriarch and all that follows her down the River of Fire. Read Full Review

The underworld framing provides action and a fitting test of her resolve, but it stretches relatively thin material across much of the issue. With Wonder War underway, this one-shot does valuable work establishing why Matriarch refuses to back down. Read Full Review

Sep 30, 2026Overall, the team working on this annual made a dull villain come alive, and I’d love to see more of Leah Williams and Stephanie Williams as a writing duo in the future. What do you think of the Matriarch? Let us know in the comments below! Read Full Review
