Swamp Thing #16

This is definitely my favorite chapter of this arc. When we first saw Alec arrive in the future, we were teased with what we could see. This is where Snyder and Paquette cut loose and unleash the full fury of the arc. We've seen plenty of apocalyptic dystopian futures but the details they add here really make you feel the pain of what has happened. Just when you think you see where the story is going, Snyder pulls the rug out from underneath. There was a time a couple issues back I was ready for the end of this story but now I want to see more. This is what I want from a comic. We have plenty of action and development mixed with great art and suspense. We know the 'good guys' have to somehow win in the end but there can easily be serious consequences as hinted in this issue. Read Full Review

A tremendously good issue, and the best in the Green Kingdom part of Rotworld so far. I would highly recommend it, as it is full of suspense, and drama, and I am really looking forward to the two part conclusion next month. Read Full Review

Swampy #16 also marks the return of Yanick Paquette to pencil duties, which always boosts the rating of this book. Paquette's line work continues to enthrall, as he handles the quieter moments nicely and the action sequences with gusto. And when things get horrific " and they get horrific, especially on that final page " Paquette is there to turn things up to 11 to make you want to punch Anton Arcane in the face yourself. Stellar artwork saves the day for this comic. It has some major pacing problems, and though I've never been a fan of the way Snyder introduces an issue, the start and end of this comic provide more than enough interesting plot and character developments to believe that there is hope that next issue will be awesome. I'm definitely going to miss Snyder and Paquette on "Swamp Thing," and this issue is a prime example of why. The duo have a strong sense of how to create a comic that's as much adventure as it is horror. With an engaging story since day one, "Swamp Thing" has brought a level of class to the New 52 that will be sorely missed. Read Full Review

All-in-all if you've been sticking with Swamp Thing's exploits in Rotworld and you've been feeling a bit underwhelmed, I think Swamp Thing #16 will finally give you the payoff you've been waiting for"especially with the way it ends. I know I'll be picking the next issue! Read Full Review

With only one issue left of Rotworld proper, and one issue further of Snyder and Paquette's run, this series continues to perform at an exceptional level. There's perhaps too much story for the amount of panel space at certain times, but for the rest of the issue, everything is turned out almost perfectly. There's still plenty of time for all of our questions to be answered and some more plot twists to be thrown our way, but each issue remains satisfying on its own, so that the month wait between issues isn't quite as devastating as it might be otherwise. I think this issue may go down as being better as part of a whole than as a single chapter of the story. It may well be much better than I seem to be giving it credit for, but it's hard to judge this issue given my unreasonable expectations going in. What is clear is that things have been set up for a grand climax to Rotworld coming in just four weeks. I'm confident Scott and Yanick are gonna knock that one out of the park, but this issue feels like they're just stepping up tot the plate and settling into their batting stance. Read Full Review

This is Scott at his finest with Swamp Thing. Getting us hooked on this Rot World and together with Animal Man these are the Red and Green you wanna read!
