Overall, Superman #25 is another on point issue for the series. Although the beginning of the storyline was a little rough it evolved into a great tale for the super family. The creators have melded together action and love for a nice wrap-up for the storyline and continued growth for the family. It's been a year now since DC Comics' Rebirth launched. It has yet to disappoint in any major way and remains a vast improvement over The New 52. With the Kent Family's stint in Hamilton wrapped up tidily, their return to Metropolis will herald a new chapter in the Superman Rebirth saga. Superman #25 was a strong ending to the "Black Dawn" arc. Manchester Black was a fantastic villain that almost destroyed the Superman Family but was defeated by the strong bond Superman, Superboy and Lois Lane share with one another. In the end, I think the defeat of Black and the cure of Lois came about a bit abruptly. But I have decided to concentrate instead on the emotional impact of the story. This, like many stories with Black, is really about decency overcoming evil. And that worked for me. Seeing Jon have to work through all the conflicting feelings showed how he is a product of his parents, a seeker of justice not a punishing god. The Hamilton chapter of the family is over. While this issue's dose of Manchester Black may exceed recommended levels, Superman #25 delivers enough of what we've loved about this run to leave a very favorable impression. While the handoff between the two is a bit jarring, both Mahnke and Gleason continue their trend of big action and emotionally-effective character work. Our Black Dawn story ties up with this extra-sized issue and I'm glad we got the extra page count here because the ending is what really kept my score up on this issue because it gave me what I've come to love out of this Superman book and that's the family feel of love and hope that the Kents inspire.  The art was great in this issue, but I'm still a little upset that we left this big battle with some dangling threads that I still don't understand. The conclusion of "Black Dawn" was somewhat messy, but it ultimately worked. The Superman/Superboy moments redeem the a long, drawn-out battle and the story arc resolves nicely when all is said and done. Read Full Review

As much as this issue was a disappointment the last eight pages were a reminder of what this series can and has accomplished when it's a little more focused, and thankfully it's kicking off a new story arc next issue. I recommend you skip this one and come back in two weeks for Superman #26 which will hopefully be much, much better. Read Full Review

So the finale to Black Dawn has come and gone... and to be honest this is EXACTLY what I want in my Superman stories! There was a lot of heart to this comic and, without spoiling anything, everything worked out pretty much exactly how I'd like it to in the end as well. There were plenty of payoffs to stuff set up in the past 24 issues, something I was rather happy to see. Finally, that last shot in the epilogue put a massive smile on my face. Kudos to Tomasi and Gleason, because at 25 issues I can happily say this will be the recommended run from me for anyone wanting to get into Big Blue!

A good, if not slightly quick, resolution to a very dark arc for a Superman story. I think the ending helps wrap up everything very cleanly, so that no leftover pieces of story make this arc feel sloppy. I hope the new few issues are a break in darkness for the Kent family.

I love this issue, black dawn concludes with the good guys winning and doesn't make the same mistake of killing off Manchester black(He's stuck in a cow's body). But it still didn't explain Lois's leg being back(got heat visioned by supes -0.7) and what that black ooze is(the black symbiote-looking thing Manchester black was using -1). SCORE: 8.3/10

Didn't really care for this. Too many small panels with lots dialogue to go with the fighting. Wasn't effectively done in my opinion. Though there is a possessed cow smoking a cigarette, so...that's cool.
