    This annuals best short story is the one written by Chuck Dixon hands down. While it has nothing to do with what is going on with Supergirl's main story by Peter David, it offers a horrifying glimpse into the hell of some random character being used by some evil planetary corporation mining for rare minerals on a hot planet. The character as an adult speaks no words at all, we just see her being forced against her will to be strapped to a machine and transfer her mind to an autonomous android "tooljerk" on the hot planet to mine resources. The only context we get from her is memories from her childhood. How her father would retell childlike stories of Supergirl to put her to sleep.
