    Before buying the next issue I'll thumb through it because I wasn't wowed by this story or art. Too many characters left unexplained in the opening issue doesn't help and visuals that go from awesome to awkward create inconsistent art. I want to like this title, but I have a feeling I'll be more satisfied if I dig through my back issues for Jerry Ordway's take on this character. Read Full Review

    A weak attempt to catch up with the Marvels in a rapidly growing and changing DCU, this one-shot does nothing to change the status quo. The characters are left much in the same state as they had before, which is sadly uninteresting and redundant. Read Full Review

    There's very little here for fans of the characters to hang their hopes on, and although DC keeps saying there are plans in the works for the family, it's time se saw some real evidence of that. This issue isn't enough. Cliff Richards' art is okay " his Blaze is very good, and the fight scenes work well. But this issue remains rather lacking. Read Full Review

    "Shazam!" is, at the end of the day, a bit of a disappointment. It doesn't feel like the right tactic for these characters, and getting a big ol' "To Be Continued" at the end of the issue is slightly annoying. At least the "Wonder Girl" one-shot earlier this month had a conclusion (even though the new character will move on to "Teen Titans" shortly), but this comic in many ways just stops. The finished product is told with skill, but the core concept behind it feels flawed. Read Full Review
