Peacemaker Tries Hard! #3

Pugh's work in this issue is nothing to sneeze at, either. A barstool never felt so lonely. The little details, like a bloody handprint or a tampon plug (you'll get it) are a nice touch, as well as the flavor text accompanying some of the heaviest hits in the issue. “Everybody cries, dammit!” is probably the best panel in the issue. Brutal, hilarious, and often brutally hilarious, Peacemaker Tries Hard! #3 is drenched with action and humor. Although this book slows the story's pace to a crawl, it is also some of the most fun I've had reading in a long time. The creative team is clearly firing on all cylinders as humor permeates nearly every sequence with each line or dialogue or panel of artwork. That's not to say that it's all fun and games, as Starks' dark opening sequence presents a theme for the story to follow. This story has shades of John Wick and other "don't mess with a man's dog stories, but with an absurdist edge that could only come from the mind of Kyle Starks. It's a great follow-up to the work Gunn did with Peacemaker. Read Full Review

There are a couple of instances in which tall panels result in a confusion reading order, but overall Peacemaker Tries Hard! continues to present itself in outstanding fashion with some of the most expressive characters in DC Comics' current line. Read Full Review

Another pretty enjoyable issue was we get to the halfway point of this miniseries. Despite some of the more "forced" humor I mentioned in my review of the first issue being present, I think this run has found its stride. Hopefully the next issue doesn't prove me wrong, as I've been really enjoying this so far.
