Nightwing #12

I can't wait to see how this book continues on. Nightwing has been a very solid book thus far, and this issue sets up a lot of interesting future story lines. I enjoyed the Paragon tie back to earlier issues, and I really liked all one page of the Penguin here. The art team is fantastic, and I enjoyed their work throughout the issue. Read Full Review

I really enjoyed this issue. It wrapped up the arc nicely, and progressed the supporting characters. The relationship between Dick and Sonia is really interesting to me, and the final line of the book is certainly very telling. I'm also interested to see how Nie is used from here on out, now that he knows Dick wasn't the killer, but still has that animosity towards him due to the death of his boyfriend. Read Full Review

Issue #12 is worth picking up if you've read the rest of this arc. It's not as satisfying as I would have liked it to be but it was alright. Even though the plot kind of got cut short, this arc totally delivered when it came to world building and broadening the supporting cast. The Amusement Mile stuff and the relationship with Sonia are making Dick Grayson's life seem more interesting than his masked alter-ego. And Detective Nie has the makings of a complex friend or enemy. The Republic of Tomorrow was a fine addition to Nightwing's story. Read Full Review

Nightwing needs a more suitable and consistent artist if it's going to live up to its potential. Luckily, Higgins seems to be maneuvering the book into a more compelling place in the coming months, so the visual woes aren't an insurmountable problem. Read Full Review

Regardless, if you can ignore the predictable bout with that Nightwing has with Paragon and focus on the character work that Higgins builds between Dick, Tony Zucco's daughter and their attempt to revitalize Haley's Circus, then you clearly see that Higgins's is slowly building towards something much larger and has been for quite some time. Personally, I'm excited to see where this is going, but would rather skip filler issues like these to get to the inevitable destination. Read Full Review
