A mess is a nice description for this comic which seems to lack direction or purpose. Much like the first issue, I wonder if the only reason we're seeing this series is it's main character is part of a high profile team book. My guess is we won't be seeing this series on the shelves for too long. Read Full Review

Though this issue is very uneven, especially the forced ending, there's something intriguing in "Katana" that makes it unique to the DC line, and that's a good thing. Alex Sanchez's art is a somewhat mixed bag as well. The first issue had some stellar pages that gave a fluid grace to the book. This issue is stiff and severely lacking in the dynamic department. Even the fun, sketchy quality of the first issue disappears as Sanchez is joined by inker Claude St. Aubin this time around. There's really not much to love in this issue. All in all, Katana is a clunky package that doesn't do much to justify its existence. Read Full Review

Alex Sanchez's art is stylish and evocative, but his action sequences are rather static, and difficult to follow. What's more, the abruptness of some of the scene changes make it difficult to follow the action, and I often found myself wondering where I was in the story. The last page comes out of nowhere and seems shoehorned in in an attempt to remind the reader that yes, this is part of the wider DC Universe. Katana has potential, and Nocenti is a more than capable writer, but this title needs a shot in the arm, and quick, if it's going to survive. Read Full Review

This is a hopeful for me. i really want Nocenti to shine on this title, but its got some bugs to work out. The art of the first issue was nice, and at least a departure from the comic book 'norm'. Yet DC chose to hobble that art with an inker that makes those soft flowing pencils become ridged. Not really an improvement IMO. im on the fence, but i see potential.
