Justice League of America #15 is an average issue. McDuffie does a good enough job making sure the reader doesn't look behind the curtains. McDuffie unleashes enough eye catching action bundled up in a story that moves at a fast pace with the hopes that the reader doesn't stop and realize that the story itself is lacking in substance. This title is truly best described as cotton candy for the brain. And while cotton candy is delightful to eat every once in a while, it is certainly something that you cannot sustain yourself on over the long haul. Read Full Review

Don't get me wrong from a craft standpoint, this arc has been superb. McDuffie knows how to tell a comic book story, and artist Ed Benes certainly knows his way around action-packed fight scenes (even if his "boobs and bisceps" style gets a bit old after a while). I just expected more from such a talented writer than this type of standard superhero fare. Read Full Review

Aside from an interesting scene were Cheetah confronts her rapist teammate, Dr. Light, and tries to kill him, this issue is sort of a let-down in terms on an expected fight. I was really hoping for an all out battle between the heroes and villains but in the end it is Countdown that rears its head in a DC title once more. Read Full Review

I could keep going about the failings of this issue, like the ham-fisted romantic plots, but I'll stop here. I wasn't the biggest advocate of Brad Meltzer's run, but he at least had something to say - a direction other than meaningless fights and corny one-liners. Ed Benes's considerable talents are being wasted and the relaunch momentum is thoroughly gone. Read Full Review
