Wonder Woman's bit was also enjoyable and I can certainly say that if this continues, I'll really go back to getting singles again rather than wait for the release of the trade paperback or hardcover for this book. Whatever the case may be, Darkseid is certainly coming in full throttle and without mercy…and the team couldn't be LESS prepared. Much like what Dwayne McDuffie and James Robinson tried to do with the League before the reboot, (and failed) Johns and Lee are bringing a team together and allowing them to grow as a unit. Geoff Johns does a great job balancing the different characters in the stories. In this book, he nails all the characterizations, and moves the plot forward extremely well. Jim Lee does a fantastic job with the art. He captures each characters look in great detail, and brings his usual dynamism to his art style. There's a boatload of funny moments and lots of action in this comic so you're gonna get your money's worth. Especially if you enjoy these 2-page spreads of the heroes kicking heads in. Wonder Woman's debut action shot is especially cool. And it appears that even in this New 52 universe these heroes who claim to not kill continue to make exceptions for robots and aliens that don't look human. Jim Lees work is messy this issue. Theres a too much happening all at once and several reading are needed to capture all hes put in. Id suggest he cleans up and simplifies a bit. But then, his fans rally like his messy pages and that may not please them. But I read Justice League because I like the Justice League, not because of Jim Lee. Read Full Review

While I know what to expect in terms of structure overall going into this series, I didn't think I'd enjoy it quite as much as I am because of how the characters act the quirks that are showing through here. Justice League is meant to be DC's blockbuster action title, and Justice League #3 delivers on that promise. The overall plot is moved forward ever so slightly here, but you probably won't mind because you get to see your favorite heroes tearing bad guys apart in fine fashion. JUSTICE LEAGUE continues to deliver the epic introduction of the team. Geoff Johns and Jim Lee are the dream team and it's great seeing the two of them introduce us to this new DC Universe. Johns is crafting out who the characters are and establishing what their relationships will be like while Lee beautifully (and gracefully) depicts all the action. I might be a little impatient and while it's understandable that this is still setting everything up, I'm ready for the big action (or maybe I should say bigger action). The Justice League fighting a horde of parademons is fun to see but we all want to see them go up against Darkseid. Johns and Lee are almost teasing us with the suspense and spectacular scenes. It's pretty safe to say that it's all going to hit the fan next issue in terms of action. Let's hope Johns and Lee are on board for the long haul. Read Full Review

As the team comes together Justice League finally becomes the big blockbuster comic book it should be. Justice League #3 did a great job balancing out the various personalities in this book with a lot of action. Getting to see the team finally come together was a lot of fun to see as each one of them gets some time to shine, especially the two new members of the team. Read Full Review

Three months in, and Justice League is still the one DC itle that I look forward to reading each time I see it my pile. Yes it is another take on the heroes meeting for the first time, but this time, Johns seems to understand where the interpersonal and external conflicts are coming from, and is using those as the catalyst to tell the story. I'm sure in the hands of Johns and Lee, the conclusion of this arc is going to be epic. There are a few concerns over art and killing the enemy in a violent manner that bothers me a bit, but overall Justice League #3 is still worthy of 4 out of 5 Stars. Read Full Review

There are quite a few casual references scattered throughout (including Professor Ivo and T.O. Morrow) longtime fans of DC Comics should catch, and new fans should note. Since this comic is at the top of the relaunch bill, I'm a little disappointed that that it hasn't contained more surprises. But maybe it isn't Johns' and Lee's goal to reinvent the genre. If the plan is simply to entertain, then Justice League #3 hits the mark. Read Full Review

Anyway, Justice League #3 is finally getting to what we wanted out of this book in the first place. However, it has yet to manage anything completely awesome, even though Wonder Woman's splash page was as close as it's gotten. It's nice to see "Justice League" solidifying as the series progresses. The creative team is looking much stronger than their first effort, and I'm starting to feel like "Justice League" is in the right hands. Despite growing pains, the heroes are working better as a team. This book is mostly action, action and more action. The last seven pages show a GL sketchbook and extract of “The Secret History of Atlantis” by David Graves which is a complete waste of time. Nothing really compelling came out of this issue but certainly nothing bad either. Read Full Review

Ultimately, the biggest problem is the plot is unfolding too slowly. We know where the story is headed: a confrontation with Darkseid, the formation of a team, the rise of a new hero. There's no tension in the story, no suspense, just the sense we're having to wait and wait and wait. I'm reminded a little of the experience of reading the first few issues of Fear Itself, in which the audience kept watching hammers fall from the sky but never seeing any forward movement in the plot. I hate to say that this issue maintains none of the wonderful things found in number one. The plot carries out okay. The art's getting better, but the issue feels so empty, dry, repetitive and bland.

It's dragging so much. So much. It's painful. Geoff Johns doesn't need to introduce one character at a time, and mostly not in this way, which is by fighting a bunch of brainless monsters without the big boy (Darkseid) approaching. As we're still missing Cyborg to the gang I guess it'll take another couple issues to really kick in the story and, by then, I'll be definitely tired of it. Moreover, John's characterization of each hero is two-dimensional and bores fast old readers. This thing needs to be fixed, being the core series of the disgraced New 52 and, because of that, sure to go on for a lot.
