Apr 19, 2013Overall, it's got some spark with the dialog (something Giffen is good at), but it all feels kind of half-assed. Granted, it's hard to go full-assed at something like He-Man. They have a lobster guy named Clawful, you know, and a guy with a big fist named Fisto. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #1 is certainly a step up from the old cartoon as far as characterization, but that's not saying a whole lot. Read Full Review

Apr 18, 2013In addition to being a thick read due to the civilian attire the primary characters sport throughout most of the issue, the lineage of characters and relationships is not something new readers are going to easily discern. Once again, however, I find myself reiterating that perhaps newer readers are not the target audience. "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" #1 is a niche book reaching out to a niche audience and I hope fans of the franchise enjoyed this first issue more than I did. Read Full Review
