This series is a powerhouse! The conflicts come from within and outside the teams, with the Kyle-Soranik saga as compelling as the murder mystery. When John Stewart finds out about the secret Bolphunga's threatening to reveal...well, he looks a little miffed. Certainly not stunned to his core. This issue also contains some friendship action between Guy Gardner and Arkillo, and it is terrific. With Ethan Van Sciver drawing, you'll say, "Yep. Looks like a Green Lantern comic for sure." Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #23 definitely is building up the tension, and while I'm not a fan of the Kyle/Natu love reunion I will admit that the involvement of their future child does bring an interesting twist to their potential relationship and after seeing Natu's reaction that Kyle was hiding this fact from her only spells for some interesting drama in the next issue. Finally even though it was a small roll in the grander scheme within the context of the issue I loved seeing John being put into this situation. You can tell by his dialog and how Van Sciver draws his body that Bolphunga's bluff ways heavy upon him as a leader. Really great issue overall. Read Full Review

Well, I didn't expect that ending. I loved the whole Murder on the Orient Express vibe that was going on through this book. It felt new and fresh compared to the normal flow of how Robert usually writes. The action is more at at a minimum, but the plot and drama has definitely thickened. The other subplot involves Soranik Natu investigating Sarko and discovering what is causing Kyle Rayner‘s odd behavior and insistence she give up her yellow ring in favor of the green. Given the fact that her discover wipes the man's existence from this timeline, however, suggests the timeline has already been changed. Worth a look. Read Full Review

Venditti chooses to frame this murder mystery in the mindset of John and his desperation to keep the two Lantern Corps united. Despite this, the story was still on the predictable side and I wish it could have been more dynamic. Van Sciver's art is still epic, though. Read Full Review

Robert Venditti & Ethan Van Sciver have done an amazing job on this issue. The pacing was a bit reminiscent of a tv procedurally, but that works here. Yes, it made the pacing a bit slow in some parts, but that's the only thing I could complain about. Ethan's art is really wonderful & it's nice to see an artist of his ability on this book. When a comic book leaves you wanting to read the next issue "right now", you know you're reading something good. A lesson that no one at Marvel Comics seems to know or care about.

I get there's gonna be tension between the Green and Yellow (what else is new?) even though they're teammates. However, I'm more intrigued with how Soranik is gonna react next issue knowing that she's gonna shag Rayner and then have the worst son ever.

Even if I love Hal Jordan more than any other super-hero, Guy Gardner has become my favorite character of the title. His characterization is awesome: he's both fun and super bad-ass. For me, his team-up with Arkillo is an excellent idea and it's really well-written. The story is becoming quite intriguing and I'm really looking forward to the next issues!

We finally begin to see the seams start fall apart within this uneasy alliance between the GL and SC, but I hope that this is not the theme for the entire Venditti run. I feel like most of his arcs have had to do with this topic, which has been handled well by him, but I want something different now.
