What Johnson does here is expand on elements from past runs that hinted that John's powers were growing beyond what we've seen from any other Lantern. This wouldn't work nearly as well as if he hadn't done the work to get us invested in John's family. Read Full Review

Green Lantern: War Journal #7 is another great issue of the series, slowing the pace down a bit in order to get a few pieces of the puzzle ready for what's to come. Unlike the dead in the water flash run by Spurrier right now, this is how you do eldrich space horror. The art is great. Stewart feels like he is in an unknown and disturbing space. You can feel his need to get home and yet being trapped in a place he has no idea of. A rare feeling for him so this is a nice change. Putting John in a situation he doesnt find himself in often allows PJK to do some interesting work with him. I like where this is going. His 'sister' on earth... yeah I dont think that is going to go well even if it was with the best of intentions but this B plot also has me hooked. Small actions, cascading consequences. You love to see writing like this. Like the art. Want to read more. This series just keeps getting bett er. more
