Fernando Pasarin makes a welcome return with this issue. His pages are, as always, fantastically detailed and well laid out. His art carries a slightly lighter tone this time around thanks both to the humor in the story and the lack of severed limbs. Pasarin's work is a good way to kick off a new storyline for the Corps. A (relatively) quiet issue which recovers from the blistering action of the first story arc, only to set up the dramatic foundations for the next. The art also seems to be taking a break from its previously stellar quality in favor of something more average. Read Full Review

The real point of this issue (outside Guy's promotion) is the final page; the Alpha Lanterns descend to arrest John for the murder of Green Lantern Kirrt, an action that will surely lead to this "Alpha War". Read Full Review

Green Lantern Corps #8 does a great job of setting up the next major chapter in the lives of John and Guy plus it deftly puts the series neatly alongside New Guardians and Green Lantern as well crafted pieces of a much larger puzzle.  Four out of five lanterns. Read Full Review

The Corps just keeps getting better; there's more concentration on creating a coherent plot amongst the multiple side plots as well as giving characters bigger spotlights and character developing moments. The GL Corps title is turning out to be the best one yet! Read Full Review

I was wondering when Tomasi would come back to the elephant in the room that was John's killing of his fellow lantern. To see that finally addressed is exciting, as is the extra time given to Guy Gardner, particularly since Kyle Rayner now has his own series, New Guardians. Recently, Green Lantern scribe Geoff Johns teased a new story called "The Third War." This may be the beginning of it, and if things are going the ways they're hinted at, I see major changes in the Green Lantern universe. Now is a great time to jump on board. Read Full Review

Fernando Pasarin makes a solid return with GLC #8. His work really helps to save the issue, at least aesthetically. His layouts are killer, his art always highly detailed and fun to look at. I dug his work showing the scope of the Sinestro Corps battery and while the bar fight was unnecessary plot wise, Pasarin made it look cool. I know others find this whole run with GLC to be “fun” and filled with levity. To me, the entire universe feels like it has no direction and if it does, it’s the wrong one. Read Full Review

The artwork in this issue is amazingly good! Pasarin is at the top of his game with this one! The story is also very good. It's the beginning of a new arc entitled - "The Alpha War." And although there is not a lot of action, the character interaction and dialogue is great. Guy Gardner and John Stewart take center stage here and their characterization is at its best!
