Jun 28, 2012The battle may be quick, but it sure looks epicGreen Lantern Corps is a bit of a quick read, but the issue is filled with some great moments that more than makes up for it. As I read the book I was filled with a sense of impending doom, almost like the scene in "Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith" when we witness the fall of the Jedi. This events of this issue will likely resonate throughout the Green Lantern universe for the next couple of months as the bigger story planned by the creative forces behind the Green Lantern universe continues to unfold. Jun 20, 2012Tomasi's script delves deep to provide excellent discussion on the merits of Jon's execution and the ramifications it will have on the Guardians, the Alphas, and the Corps as a whole. Under all of this is a vague hint that there is more going on than meets the eye, but here's hoping that Tomasi sticks to his guns and reaches a satisfying conclusion to what has been his strongest arc, which means not resorting to magically bringing Kirrt back to life or somehow erasing John's crime. Newsarama - David Pepose
Jun 21, 2012Thankfully, the book does pick up by the end, making excellent work of Fernando Pasarin's style. Pasarin has the composition of a Dave Gibbons, the expressiveness of a Kevin Maguire, and the clean figures of a Barry Kitson. Watching the Lanterns go to war against an ominous force has the widescreen appeal, but Pasarin also sells the quieter moments with aplomb. There are worse ways to score a win than by looks alone. The first two entries into this arc were mired with legal jargon and judiciary proceedings - not things you want (or expect) from an action-based comic book. Jun 28, 2012Green Lantern Corps #10 is more about the derision of the Corps and the potential for further issues than anything else, which works quite well. On top of John's great moments we are given decent work with other Lanterns and a non-Lantern almost being selected. John Stewart receives a death sentence from the Alpha Lanterns. Guy and the corps bust him out of the science cell. The Alpha Lanterns face off against the Corps - next issue. That about sums it up. The story is ok, but it is the artwork that really shines here. story 7.5; artwork 9.5; = 8.5 overall.
