Mar 02, 2011Thus officially begins the War of the Green Lanterns. Johns and company have crafted a great prologue issue to hook in readers and get them behind this latest GL-centric event. Like I said last month, it's a great feeling to know the Green Lantern books are back on track. And if this prologue is any indication, this is just the tip of the emerald iceberg. Read Full Review

Mar 03, 2011On the eve of war we have an issue that adds some surprising detail of events that have been lost to time, reminding us that, like in real life, what we have been told is not always the complete truth and that history isn't always what was, but what was passed down by those who had the position to make their version of events the only version. There are more revelations to come in the weeks ahead and this issue serves to set the stage for the events about to unfold. Four out of five lanterns. Read Full Review

Mar 06, 2011When the Sinestro Corps War kicked off with a one-shot it grabbed my attention and raised my expectations for every subsequent major arc (especially Green Lantern related). This issue doesn't come close to that level of "wow" but it at least brings readers up to speed and makes sure that everyone knows all about Krona and what a bad boy he's been. I can't say if this arc will be great, good or just blah but this first issue at least makes me eager for the next one so that's something. Read Full Review

Mar 02, 2011It's unfortunate that "War of the Green Lanterns" doesn't have a stronger first chapter; in the past "Green Lantern" has given us stronger openings to the big storylines, and with the "Green Lantern" movie out this year a lot of attention will be on this title. Out of the gate, it's a less-than-graceful first step. Read Full Review

Mar 02, 2011MAAAAN, this arc is going slow. We've been reading about Krona's plot for the better part of a year now, and there's clearly a lot of padding going on in this tale. Hal is becoming more and more unstable, while Atrocitus, Larfleeze and Saint Walker have become one-note characters parroting the same sentiments over and over. There was a point a few issues ago where it seemed that we might see the entities inhabiting new bodies, but that was cut short, while the bits with Krona and the Guardians history this month are strong, but are way out of balance with the soul-searching of Hal Jordan. I'm sure I'm overthinking this, but it feels like we've been stretching this whole arc to get the big War storyline to coincide with the upcoming Green Lantern movie, and the characters and plot are suffering. Green Lantern has been a series of escalating battles for about five years worth of stories now, and I'm dying for a quiet moment with Cowgirl, or even the appearance of a supporting cast member Read Full Review
