Is this the best issue of Green Lantern that we've seen lately? Not by a long shot, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth the cover price. The seams are starting to show in this is current storyline as Johns circles a bit in this issue, but when he does take a step forward, it's practically a leap. In terms of story, this issue nearly earns a Buy It verdict on the strength of Black Hand's appearance alone. When you add in a solid, but not quite up fantastic, effort from Doug Mahnke and crew, you get another issue of Green Lantern that is worth your cash. Read Full Review

Between the central philosophical rift between Hal and Barry, the gradual, unnerving revelation about the Indigo Lanterns and a surprise appearance by the most infamous of the various colored entities, Johns is able to effectively suggest Hal still has a lot to prove to both his superhero allies and the Guardians of the Galaxy even after his universe-saving turn in Blackest Night. That's undoubtedly a good thing, as these new complications help invigorate this book and this franchise at a time when most other GL books are spreading the line's core storyline thin. Other than some unsuitably sloppy and rushed work from Doug Mahnke early in the book, Green Lantern #59 is one of the best GL book to hit in months. Theres always something happening in the Green Lantern series. Issue #59 puts some new pieces on the table that are adding to the Lantern mythos. I think youll like it. Read Full Review

"Green Lantern" #59 isn't by any stretch of the imagination a bad comic, but it is unfortunately an uneven one. There's a lot of good ideas in here, and some parts that will definitely be on the minds of readers until the next issue. But with such an erratic pace, it makes me wish that those issues had been smoothed out first. Read Full Review
