Grayson #3

Throughout the issue, Dick tries his best to solve problems through communication and logic only to get run over by his associates who have a shoot-first mentality. As Nightwing, he worked alone " and I'm wondering how long before the former freelancer bucks his employer. It's great to see the moral dilemmas played up as Grayson plays double-agent, and it's evident that King and Seeley are playing up not only the lines Grayson has to walk, but the black and whites on either side of him. Grayson #3 is a comic that a lot of powerful and shock to it when it was all over. The writing was fantastic, the characters were great, the message and themes were well handled, and the artwork was stunning as usual. There were concerns when people saw the solicitation about Grayson having to make a hard choice and it relating to guns, but those people should not be concerned. This is an incredibly strong comic through and through. The writing is top notch. It's fun. It's shocking. The artworklooks terrific. The point is, pick up this book! It is concise in its goals while also being witty and fun. It is classy comics for readers who like moral complexity, espionage, and action. Grayson looks to be a watershed for DC's recently welcomed indie-famous creators who are playing in the New52 sandbox. For a character so predicated on progression — his evolution part of the reason why he's garnered such a die-hard following — it's surprising that the idea of Dick Grayson 'super spy' didn't sit well with many readers when first announced. Images of Dick brandishing a gun had others seething red, worrying that they'd 'gritty' him up. However Seeley and King quickly proved their fears were for nothing, winning over readers with an adept understanding of the character. The issue's climax displays Dick's optimism, hope, and genuine belief that there's good in everyone, is one of the most memorable and engaging sequence of the series so far. No matter what adventure Seeley and King take him on next readers can always count on Dick Grayson, unrepentantly and unapologetically, being Dick Grayson. Read Full Review

Grayson #3 is an issue I can finally recommend to Nightwing fans.  It's a fun little action story with the appropriate grey areas that spy books love to dabble in, but in the end it's Seeley and King showing that they don't want to change Dick, just his situation.  Mikel Janin's art is stellar and is just another reason to give this book a try.  If you bailed or never jumped in, this is the issue to get back on the trolley. If you are new to Dick Grayson, this series is an amazing introduction, if you don't like him, this series will make you love him, and if you already love him, then this series was tailor-made for you.

Tim Seeley, Tom King, and Mikel Janin are crafting a great spy thriller, even though they're just three issues into the new series. Dick Grayson, as an agent of Spyral, is given a gun. Obviously, that's going to be an issue given his training with Batman. Seeley and King are able to give a logical reason for Dick not to pull the trigger, as well as crafting an emotional scene showing that Dick's method can work, at least on certain people. They're also able to show the ramifications of using the gun, should a spy choose to do so. Add to that the intensive mystery building around Spyral, and their attempts to learn the secret identity of every superhero, and the stage is set for what could be a long form epic story, similar to what Brian Azz arello is doing in Wonder Woman. Janin's artwork is incredible, from his smooth, clear depiction of action, to his detail on faces, guns, etc.. Even the sex scene at the beginning is handled in a way that doesn't feel exploitative, and still treats Agent 8 as a human being, rather than an object. Great work by both the writing team, and Janin. Three issues in, and "Grayson" is becoming a standout book amidst the 12 Bat Family titles that are being published this month. Highly recommended. more

Tense, thrilling, thought-provoking and leaving you desperate for the next issue. Then throw in some outstanding art (it's Mikel Janin, what do you expect?) for good measure. What more could you want? Outstanding comic book.

God the sexual tension in all of this is ridiculous and completely pointless. Everyone is banging everyone. We get it. Idk why they feel the need to put guns in the bedroom either but I guess everyone has their kink. The ending was awesome. It's a rare sight to have a one-off mission really carry weight for everyone involved, so I loved that. But man, really stupid stuff on the front third of this. Great ending though.
