The story was all right at best; I was hoping for a little more info as to why Helena wants Dick and Tiger dead without so much as even giving them a goodbye. I was expecting more from this team, but I'm sure the story will pick up again next month. Read Full Review

More of the same, but for a series that has scarcely had a bad issue I'll take it. What's here works as it should, be it the action providing entertainment or new developmentsdriving the story forward. It won't stand on its own well, though as part of the series as a whole it serves it's purpose, and even though it never really rises above simply "good" there are bits of greatness here and there. I'll miss this chapter in Dick's life story when it's over, but look forward to him being brought home. Read Full Review

Grayson #17 marks the end of the current writing team, with Seeley and King producing a solid final issue. Not only did they set up the next arc beautifully for the new creative team, but they also gave us some gripping interactions and intense action, that isn't to be missed. Read Full Review

If youre finishing out this series before Dick heads back to his Nightwing identity, then youll certainly want to pick this up so you dont get lost along the way. But if you want to try an issue of Grayson for the first time, Id probably skip this one and go back and get last months. Read Full Review

This was one of the few issues of Grayson that I wasn't a fan of.  After last month, Tim Seeley jumped on and came off like a guy trying to capture someone else's magic.  The book was a mismatch of tones that just didn't work and the whole thing came off like a joke you've already heard. Hopefully Jackson Lanzing and Colin Kelly can spice things up in the coming months or else a great book will limp across the finish line. Read Full Review

Grayson is a really fun weird book, and I like it. I think the art is great, the story has been solid, and the humor that this book uses is really something unlike most other books out there. Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E. makes for an interesting combatant for Grayson in this issue, and thanks to some technical assistance from Checkmate, we see Grayson and Bronze Tiger laying a beat down on the patchwork man. Then Grifter (yes, you heard that right- Grifter. As in from W.I.L.D.Cats) shows up and does his level best to be a tough brooding masked vigilante. I still remember owning a couple WILDCats comics, and seeing the Grifter action figure at the checkout line at the grocery store and even without knowing much about the character, just seeing him wearing a bandana as a facemask, I KNEW I had to have it. Grifter is such a cool character, and had such promise when he first got incorporated into the main DCU with the New 52, I was so excited for his new book. But HOO BOY was it a big ol stinker. It was not a good showing for Grifter, but at least in the pages of Grayson he gets a bit of redemption. Plus with this being Neal Adams month at DC, we get to see ol Uncle Neal (I call him that because I wish he was MY uncle) recreate his grim reaper cover for Grayson, and it is gorgeous. I love this book, and I am really interested to see where this book goes from here. I love the humor and the dynamic visuals- especially how they render the photographs as so shiny they reflect the faces of the person looking at them, which was a very unique touch, but one that I really liked. more

there were a few things i enjoyed about this issue (like Carmine Di Giandomenico's beautiful art style) but something felt really off about his issue! the dialog seemed to not flow very well and it was difficult to keep up with all these new characters that i had no idea who they were, or what their motivations were. had to read it a second time, and even then is still didn't quite jive. even Dick's wise cracking felt a bit forced, and not very funny. ...... oh well! they tried! .... at least .... i THINK they tried???
