    Batman-News - Brandon Mulholand

Ok people. If you're one of the individuals who was reading Gotham Academy and gave up on it, you need to get back in here right now…or at least pick this up in trade. It just went from mediocre to insanely good. And in actuality, this issue made every preceding issue of Second Semester better. If you want details, check out the review in its entirety. But be warned, it's spoiler-ific. So if you want to get the full effect and be surprised, you need to read issue #1-7. Other than that, all I can say is, "Oh…My…Crap!" Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - Gerry Green

It should be no secret to anyone who has read any of my Gotham Academy reviews that I love this title. It is a creepy old school with mysteries and secrets, this is my wheelhouse. There are still a few problems with this story arc, primarily the sidelining of the relationship between Olive and Maps. However, I am very hopeful that with Olive's personal, or should I say personality, problems that Maps will emerge to be her savior. In past reviews I have discussed the theory that Amy wasn't really 'there' (as pointed out by fellow TBU comic reviewer, Ian Miller) but this was done in an even more interesting way than I had expected. I recommend this comic, though this issue isn't the best jumping on point. Read Full Review

Overall, this is the best Second Semester has been, and the trajectory is pointed up from here. Olive catching bodies is my favorite Olive there is. Read Full Review

Great story, great art, great characters, and this issue gives you some major twists, too. This is the type of YA comic DC should always be publishing. If that appeals to you, definitely check it out! Read Full Review

We finally get to the bottom of Olive's mysterious roommate Amy...and it's cool enough, I guess. I think this story has just gone on for too long, and Colton's expulsion feels like a red herring for the actual story, which is in this issue. That's a good thing. Here's hoping my interest can be rekindled going forward. Read Full Review

The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge

Gotham Academy continues to hold a whole lot of potential but it remains a series where I really wish the creative side was whittled down, if all the cooks involved in the credits are actually fully participating, because it just feels like a mess. There are some interesting things here that have been teased at since early on with Olive's past and her family history and seeing it come out as it does here has its moments. I'm not exactly sure that they pulled it off well with Amy's introduction earlier in this Semester and how it played out because there were a lot of forced elements to it that kept people apart. The book looks decent and has a good flow to it as it pushes Olive further and further over the edge with the reveals that are made. I'm genuinely curious to see if they can pull it off here but am definitely hedging my bets based on recent experience. Read Full Review

After a lacklustre start to Semester 2, this book is finally starting to kick into gear! This issue was fantastic! The art, as ever, is absolutely gorgeous. It's such a shame that it's getting good just when it's been cancelled. But hopefully it comes back for Semester 3!
