The majority of the book is filler. I wouldn't classify it as a Superman comic at all.

Meet the rising champion of the gladiatorial pits of Warworld: Superman! The Man of Steel is still down in the pits duking it out with Mongul’s hordes and working his way up to the big boss himself. But since it’s Superman, there has to be more to this than a simple determination to win the title belt, right? Yes, because he’s also got Midnighter out there on a mission to chase down a dangerous new power source...but the man standing in his way is all too familiar.
Plus, the Black Racer smashes her way to freedom, and Mister Miracle, now trapped on Warworld himself, has to find his way back to the bottle city of Metropolis-and

Feb 22, 2021Again, as a reader look up Tom King's book". pick up the last issue of Worlds of War, and settle down with whatever you eat and drink while you read! I'm not sure if I can go back in time now that Future State has reinvented some looks, some angles, some lenses we were not used to. And that".is a good thing! Read Full Review

The Comicbook Dispatch - Dispatchdcu
Feb 16, 2021Now, as for our SUPERMAN story, Im going to begin by informing the readers that Phillip Kennedy Johnson is the perfect man for the job as the next SUPERMAN writer. The passion he has for the character leaps of the page and punches you in the gut. This issue was percolating with emotion and sentiment for the MAN OF STEEL. Johnson answers who SUPERMAN is and what he means to the people that read him. Johnson gets the hope he brings forth in comics as well as our daily lives. Frankly, I havent seen this side of SUPERMAN in years. And, if this is any hint as to Johnsons direction for ACTION COMICS and SUPERMAN moving forward, all I can say is take my money now! Feb 17, 2021Added in to the value of this issue are some decent backup stories. It is all very well done and this comic is, again, definitely the best of the Future State storyline. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Ariel Bee
Feb 16, 2021As is the case with many of the other Future State titles, it provides only partial answers to the questions it raises and leaves the characters in the midst of unfinished business... thus working to raise the appetite for answers and adventures yet to come. I admittedly have no real idea how those answers will come, considering we're back in the past (present!) as of March, but I'm more than willing to give the story a chance to develop and watch all of these plot threads and questions pay off. Feb 16, 2021All in all, Future State: Superman: Worlds of War #2 is an interesting exploration of different themes for each character. From Black Racer being okay with being the embodiment of death to Superman never giving up, there is something here for fans of each character. Enjoy this for its ability to tell each story apart from continuity and do so on its own terms. Read Full Review

Feb 16, 2021The four stories in this super-sized issue conclude"for now"as Superman and his allies battle to liberate Warworld. First up is the main Superman story by Johnson and Janin, and it's just as compelling as the first chapter. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Eric Shea
Feb 16, 2021While you come out of the Superman story knowing that Superman's a hero and inspires others, there's little else that can be taken away from any of the four stories that this comic holds. The art is decent overall but by the end of this book, it didn't feel like it did enough to warrant the cover price and just seemed to pad itself out to fill up its page space. It's a shame because I was looking forward to what Superman and Warworld were up to in the future but even with us getting four tales of Warworld in each issue, you didn't get much of any kind of background about it or where it might be heading. Feb 18, 2021Future State: Superman: Worlds of War #2 features one of his battles under Mongol's rule, giving Mikel Jann and Jordie Bellaire some close-quarters fighting to depict. The former's tight framing and the latter's use of red and similar colors capture the brutal tone well without coming across as too vicious. Read Full Review
