Not really caring much about Bendis' regular title allowed me to appreciate Future State: Legion of Super-Heroesa lot more than I probably would have had I been a devout fan. Unfortunately, that doesn't say much about the regular title. But taken on its own, it's quite an enjoyable diversion. I think when the regular Legion of Super-Hero title resurfaces, it would be better off following the story started here or skipping ahead to the inevitable next reboot of Legion continuity. When all is said and done Future State: Legion of Super-Heroes #2gives readers a shocking narrative that delivers an unexpected ending to its story. It's the unfortunate insistence of clinging to the main series layout designs that seriously hampers its visuals. Still not a good issue. It has the same problems as #1. Art that is, in my opinion, ugly and very chaotic. A story that isn't interesting and ends in a rather boring/uninteresting way to boot. An overabundance of text, that makes it all a heavy read. Don't Recommend.

I keep asking myself was there any point in shoehorning Legion into Future State to begin with. After all, the series tells stories with pretty much countless protagonists - some returning, others being merely one-offs. It is kinda baffling to me that such a giant ensemble comic ended up with 2 issue long micro story. And one that I think fails on every possible level, at that. The script is boring and since it's written by Brian Michael Bendis, it's way overtalked. It also lacks depth, direction, tension and purpose, due to its length. Meanwhile its art is, to put it simple, repulsive, although feel free to disagree with me here - our perception of beauty in art is purely subjective. Me, personally, truly dislike Rossmo's style, and think it does not fit the tone of this comic. On second thought, I can't think of a comic where it would fit in, but that's just a little digression. more

I think Riley Rossmo's art worked surprisingly well in Constantine: The Hellblazer back during the DCYou era.

It's a pretty good run. I don't know if you're aware of the character of John Constantine, but he's great. Even better when DC doesn't try to integrate him into the DCU, but Constantine: The Hellblazer is the best attempt they made at it.

I sure know him, but I can't say I've got a chance to read many Hellblazer comics. Probably only Dangerous Habits, Hold Me and the recent Rebirth run that was cancelled last year. I'd love to pick up more books with him, though.

I'd definitely recommend the entirety of Garth Ennis's run, Warren Ellis's run and Brian Azzarello's run, off the top of my head. That run by Si Spurrier was fantastic, a great return to form for the character imo, which meant it had to be canceled, of course.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll definitely try these out the next time I order a batch of TPs for y collection :) Yeah, it's tragic Spurrier's Hellblazer was cancelled. The mermaid issue still haunts me (in a good way). It was so good.

Yeah, I just went and bought the entirety of the available TPs for the original Hellblazer run the other week. It was a bit expensive, but that original Vertigo run is some of my favorite comics ever so it was worth it to me. And 100% agreed about that mermaid issue, we need more comics like that. Much better than shit like Future State: LoSH.

He has some decent ideas every now and then but surely his cons outweigh the pros. He sure should focus on developing his own characters, because so far he rubbed DC fans the wrong way with Superman, Event Leviathan, Legion and Young Justice (albeit I actually like the additions of Teen Lantern and Jinny Hex - these are the aforementioned few decent ideas in a haystack of bad ones).

Maybe just give him an alt-universe version of Batman, that he develops solely on his own. Give him his DC equivalent of Ultimate Spider-Man, and it could actually be good. He's never going to do as well in the established canon.

Such absolute, complete garbage. It's bad enough that they let Bendis write another Legion related book, but to add the absolutely awful drawings (can't really call it art) by Rossmo is even worse. If I could rank this any lower, I would. I really wish DC would give the Legion a title with a good writer and artist.
