Flashpoint: Deadman and the Flying Graysons #2

Whether this should be considered an Elseworlds story or if there could be any impact with September's relaunched Nightwing series, there's something about seeing Dick Grayson back at Haley's Circus with his parents. Obviously this isn't just a series about Haley's Circus. With the Amazons on a mission and attacking, the action will heat up. How Dick Grayson will react and survive (if he's able to) in this world without being trained his whole life by Batman is what adds to the suspense of the series. Based on information Nightwing writer Kyle Higgins has revealed and events in Flashpoint #3, I can't help but suspect that there's a chance some elements of this series will carry over after Flashpoint ends. Just by the name itself, this is not a book one should like. Yet it manages to work in its own way because it fits in with the kinds of things that happened back in World War II with people caught up in a huge war that tried to eke out a living only to have bigger things steamroll through their lives, causing their losses to be even worse because they can't spend the time to grieve properly. The anger that courses through Dick as he suffers his losses isn't huge, but it's there and dealt with in the small amount of space they have to work with. This issue builds well off of the first and shows an interesting angle the Amazons are playing and the personal toll it takes on those that just wanted to live without getting involved. Deadman and the Flying Graysons #2 is an alright comic book. It's not amazing, but it's also not terrible. While things come off as a bit rushed, if you can see past these shortcomings, there is an interesting story in there that could be worth your time. Read Full Review

With brilliant Cliff Chiang covers, and characters Dick Grayson and Deadman starring, I had high hopes for "Flashpoint: Deadman & The Flying Grayson's" but there's not much here to hold onto and the result is an unsatisfying mish-mash. Read Full Review
