Overall this month's Dial H is the welcome climax to the first story arc and one that while may be outright confusing to new readers, steadfast fans will assuredly enjoy. Well, maybe after a read through or two since Mieville hits us again with a wall of his signature obtuseness. All in good fun though, and it is poised to continue that way. Read Full Review

One small failing of the book is that is quite complicated. For new readers that might have jumped on at issue #0, this arc probably feels pretty inaccessible. While this issue is a satisfying conclusion to this arc, and one that introduces plenty of new mysteries for future stories, I can see how new readers might be thrown. Hopefully they can see the quality both Miville and Santolouco are bringing to the table, and give it the chance that the already devoted "Dial H" readers know it deserves -- readers are in good hands with this creative team. This issue continues to prove how strange this series is, but I think it solidifies a bit of the mythology that Mieville is trying to assemble, which really gives it reason to exist past this opening arc (something I was previously worried about). Whereas before, I didn't know what might even come after this first story was done. I now find myself really intrigued by the possibilities, and more excited than I have been before about reading upcoming issues. Read Full Review
