Ra's Al Ghul confronts Batman and explains his disappointment in him and how he plans to move into Gotham to basically make Batman's life a living hell. At this point, Bruce seems to have had enough. What follows is what Bruce will do when pushed too far. It's smart, devious, and even cruel, but in many ways it's justified. Detective Comics #840 has very strong dialogue and characterizations by Paul Dini. I'm not a regular Batman reader, but I can easily say that this is Dini at the top of his game and an issue not to be missed. Dustin Nguyen provides some shaky storytelling at the beginning of the issue (the action is portrayed a bit off), but finishes very strong. Read Full Review

On the art side of things, Dustin Nguyen – Detective Comics' newest "regular" penciller – does a more than competent job capturing the raw emotion of Ra's and Batman's showdown while delivering an exciting sense of dynamism. If there's one problem I have with Nguyen taking over this book, however, it's that I can't stand the way he draws Batman's cowl. Comics Bulletin - Kevin Powers

This issue alone is of greater quality that the entire Resurrection of Ras al Ghul story-arc. Its a perfect epilogue and an excellent establishment of Ras Al Ghuls new direction and thankfully Countdown free. Ill be honest, part of me thought Ras was going to catch the next Boom Tube into Salvation Run. I hope Dini returns to the animated seriess style approach to this title because it definitely succeeds here. Read Full Review
