Jun 21, 2017Lobo/Road Runner Special is truly a delight. This series of comics is going to be a nice break from DCs line, poking fun at the capes while letting the cartoons have fun. The illustration and writing coalesce to create an engaging read that capitalizes on the irony of shady origins as the method of humor. None of the characters are overbearing and this final product is an enjoyable foray into seemingly disparate themes and mechanics of storytelling. Read Full Review

The main story features the artwork of Kelly Jones,which seems an odd choice, but given the storys EC overtones, maybe not.Jones work has always evoked that style, without copying it too closely. "Wile E. Coyote hires Lobo to take out Road Runner." Sounds hilarious, right? Well, whatever story you just thought of in your head is better than this sad excuse for a comic book. The conceit by which the Looney Tunes characters are brought into the DC Universe is stupid and unnecessary, and the ensuing events are just... Meh.
So no, Lobo does NOT travel through a portal to the Looney Tunes universe and lay waste to the entire population using cartoon violence, because that would have been WAY too much fun. What a missed opportunity. -
