DC Comics Bombshells hits a solid installment here as we get the introduction of Kara into the game. With her being one of the more defining figures of the statue line, I'm looking forward to seeing her in action once things get to that area. As an origin installment, it certainly works well with what it does and makes for an enjoyable ride as we see the stepsisters move towards their goal while also hiding the truth of who they are. It's a complicated period in general and no less so in Russia, coming off of the revolution prior and the scale and scope of the impact of the first Great War and the cost placed on the people. There's a lot to like here that has me wishing this was a daily series so we could get even more of it quicker. Read Full Review

There are structural flaws with how DC Bombshells has been constructed and issue #3 shows them more clearly than either of its predecessors but we're also on the cusp of greater things. With an Elseworlds vibe to charm the cynical, enough action to play to the base, and enough heart to woo the Downton Abbey generation of nerds, I expect Bombshells will be around for a long time as long as DC supports it properly and gives it the room it needs to grow. While we have ourselves a new and interesting concept for Supergirl and Stargirl here, this being a digital title really hinders the story telling due to it's size.  Just not enough time is really given to present these characters in a fulfilling way that really lets us know who they are in this World War II world.  The art in this series has been continuously great, but since these two characters are very similar and even wearing the same pilot garb throughout, it's easy to get them mixed up. Besides the disjointed feel of the stories, I can see them slowly inching towards each other. If only for the Batwoman story, I recommend this, but I hold out hope that once stories intersect it will become strong once more. Read Full Review
