Nov 23, 2021Finally, Checkmate is over and we can all get back on with our lives in a world where the comics we love at least feel like they belong in the same Universe and where the characters we love feel like themselves or at least don't feel like the writer is making fun of them. The art in this issue made a would-be important scene come off incomprehensible and the story itself ultimately meant nothing. The only hope I have coming out of this mini is that no one ever references these events again and Bendis leaves DC soon. Read Full Review

I like Maleev, but this issue was tough. Sometimes I didn't know who/what I was looking at. The dialogue was pretty bad. It also felt like Bendis didn't realize he had only one issue left, so he flew through content that should have been three issues.

I hate giving low ratings, specially to creators that I'm very fond of, and Bendis is one of them. I started reading comics when he was at the top of his game, and man is just sad to watch my favorite writer of all time doing something like this. Maleev's art is still good, but not his best work. Can't believe this convoluted, boring, and unnecessary miniseries was made by the same creative team who made some of the best runs of characters like Daredevil, Moon Knight and Spider-Woman, hell, even their Iron Man run which was written at Bendis worst time at Marvel was better than this. I don't know what happened to Bendis, if he just got tired of writing super heroes or if he's just out of ideas, but i really hope that we can have another gli more

Leviathan was a interesting villain with full of potential. Looks like Bendis show how his ego make him unable to left his characters in good hands and he prefered to kill him. Not surprised, this books is just terrible. Still, the art is better than his JL run.

Fucking awful. I really, really despise this issue. Nothing about this worked. The art was terrible at points. The dialogue is ungodly. I just... really fucking hate this issue. Why was this published? Who gives a fucking shit? No one, but fools like you and me, one of the 10 thousand that bought this shit.
