Comic Book Nuts - Jef Mendoza
Mar 16, 2013Wow! J. Michael Straczynski nailed it in his story about Dr. Manhattan that combines past, present, and future. There is even a unexpected short epilogue that shows Dr. Manhattan after he leaves Earth. The best part of the book is where the main character switches from Dr. Manhattan to Ozymandias and the book physical switches orientation. Phenomenal! Read Full Review

Feb 27, 2013I have spent a lot of money on Before Watchmen in general and on Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias in particular. This book, on its own, justifies every dollar that I've spent. It's a meaningful contribution to the Watchmen lore that is done respectfully and skillfully. As a comic book reader and fan of the original, I feel satisfied. I am happy. Read Full Review

Mar 04, 2013But despite comics being a visual medium, people also come back for the story. And that doesn't really work here. You've seen Before Watchmen: Doctor Manhattan before, and nothing you'll read in these 22 pages is going to add anything to Alan Moore's original work. This definitely is a nice platform for Hughes and Martin to strut their stuff, but that's pretty much the only draw for this bloodless book. Read Full Review
