Batman: The Dark Knight #4

Reading over this review, with many jokes about the "emo" Batman eating ice cream, you would think I despised this comic. The truth is, I loved it. It is my favorite Batman title. I love the story, the corny and great jokes, and the odd art hiccups as much as the beautiful moments. It's just a fun series with a serious story that can easily transmogrified by the reader into a series of jokes. It's an over the top comic that features hulked-out villains showing up just because the artist draws them well. That's a bad thing if you're looking for a deep story that sparks discussion, a great thing if you just want to see new artwork featuring your favorite villains and lots of explosions and fist fighting. So far, Batman: The Dark Knight feels a lot like Hush, but not in a good way. My interest level for each successive issue continues to diminish, and if it wasn't for Detective Comics, this would be the Batman book at the bottom of the stack. The art is pretty to look at this go around, but the story is a jumble of scenes that don't connect well. Unless you're dying for something with Batman in it, I say pass on this issue.
