Batman: The Dark Knight #29

Hurwitz has done an exceptional job of playing the dark tone of Batman stories off genuinely funny sequences. Given how fans of the Bat don't often take kindly to humor, I thought he did a spectacular job of not only challenging Batman, but making him as realistic as possible. Gregg Hurwitz ends this Man-Bat story with a fittingly gray conclusion. Man-Bat might have been stopped but corporate greed is alive and well. Hurwitz is reaching for something bigger than this book ever was and the sentiment rings a bit hollow. Read Full Review

My interest gradually faded more and more after artist Ethan Van Sciver left (which only took 5 pages). There were some amusing moments with Alfred and Gordon, but mostly this story felt all too familiar and Jorge Lucas' art failed to make any of the over-the-top action interesting. A Man-Bat story needs an artist who can draw a cool monster. Read Full Review

Batman: The Dark Knight has been the weakest link in the Batman books and thankfully this is the last issue. Batman comes off as a out-of-touch oaf and the art is downright horrible.  It's a shame this book ended up like this, but as it has I can only say goodbye and good riddance. Read Full Review
