    Writer John Rogers once said, "You don't really understand an antagonist until you understand why he's a protagonist in his own version of the world." Fridolfs and Nguyen have nailed that philosophy, imbuing these iconic bat-villains with a sense of purpose beyond greed and mischief-making. All of this is wrapped up in Nguyen's delicately rendered, whimsical art. It's as playful and as beautiful as the words it gives life to. The book's text and visuals combine to make this one of the best books in DC's lineup for Bat-fans both young and old. Read Full Review

    In a way, Nguyen and Fridolfs have hit on the absolute perfect book and tone for this series. Batman's over the top colorful villains are the most natural fit possible for these expertly crafted stories that take themselves just seriously enough to have significance and just lightly enough to make them the brightest most refreshing corner the DC Universe has seen in a very long time. At the end of the day you can just feel the love seeping out of every corner of this book, and love is something the DCU needs desperately these days. Read Full Review
