Batman Beyond #8

Batman Beyond #8 ended with a great cliffhanger, while it wasn't entirely shocking if you keep up with the Batman mythos, it's an interesting turn of events that left me wanting to know more. If you're not already into this series, this is a good issue to draw you in. I know I'll be keeping up to see where this story takes the characters if only to see how the Ra's Al Ghul story arc ends. I recommend grabbing this issue if you were a fan of the cartoon series or are just a Batman fan in general, it's fun to see Terry having to deal with a lot of the messes that Bruce created in his glory days. This month's instalment of Batman Beyond delivers in every way possible. Fantastic writing and art, action, thrills and surprises. We get a look into Bruce's past and a shocking glimpse of the future. When I say that Ra's Al Ghul isn't the man he used to be, I'm really not kidding! The cliff-hanger ending to this episode will grab Batman fans' attention and change the landscape of this series going forward. Excellent stuff. Read Full Review

This book is able to work on pure imagination since they aren't in continuity with the other runs going on right now. Considering that, you can see the artists are having a blast bringing back old enemies and creating new ones. So for the most part it's a really fun and high adrenaline read. The panels on this issue were a little too "creative" for my taste, but the plot made up for the lack of structure. Worth a read. Read Full Review

Even with the forced nature of this issue, I still found myself having some fun with this story and loving the art that depicted it.  We got two decent reveals in this issue that shape how we got here and where we're going moving forward and even though the latter was pretty obvious from what we got last issue, I still found it enjoyable enough. Bernard Chang's action sequences are well-staged, and his faces are impressive. However, Jurgens' script feels oddly paced and executed. It's the artwork that saves it this time. Read Full Review

While I didn't get the bang that I was hoping for, Batman Beyond #8 still delivers in other ways. The action is spectacular, and the possibility of what Terry might do now that we understand what the new bat suit is capable of is intriguing. If there's one thing that plagues this issue and prevents it from being great, it's the predictability involved with Ra's al Ghul's reveal. Read Full Review

I really like this one and thought it was the best issue in the series so far. We finally got to see what the fuss is about the new suit that Bruce has been warning about, and the reveal at the end really leaves me interested. I enjoy Terry as Batman. He is a lot different than Bruce and that is what makes it fun. Overall, a good read and great addition to this arc.
