Batman Beyond #14

Phil Hester and Ande Parks are on art chores this issue, and I couldnt be happier. I've enjoyed their work since Green Arrowmore than a decade ago, and I have seen too little of them since then. If this is their new steady gig, great. They deserve a high-profile title from DC. If not this, perhaps Nightwing. Read Full Review

Losing artist Bernard Chang to Nightwing could have been a real body-blow to Batman Beyond. The change in styles between Mr. Chang and the new team of Phil Hester and Ande Parks is inspired, as any comparisons made would be both unfair, and invalid. There's a new Bat-family on the horizon, a new masked vigilante in Neo-Gotham and Batman is quite possibly out of the game. Hat's off to Jurgens for a great start to a new arc. This one's worth picking up. Read Full Review

Batman Beyond does a great job of incorporating elements of the original Batman Beyond cartoon with elements from the current-day DCU into exciting adventures of Batman. Oddly enough, the one DC book set in the future in some ways seems the most in tune with DC's history. Read Full Review

While I wasn't a fan of the art at all in this book, the family oriented nature of everything that was going on here kept me hooked to the pages and made it so that I can't wait for the next issue to come out.  This is really more of a new status quo for our Batman Beyond and what he wants his life to look like from here on out and I can only hope that Terry gets his wish because everything we saw here........ besides for the cliffhanger, is exactly what I want for him too. Overall, this first issue shows promise of a potentially great character development story for Terry rebuilding himself into a far more seasoned Batman as well as Bruce confronting some of his inner demons and potential regrets. Despite the twist not feeling earned and the less than satisfactory artwork, I am looking forward to seeing what the creative team brings next. Read Full Review

Batman Beyond #14 serves more as a reminder and reintroduction than anything else. After two months of filler issues, Jurgens reminds readers of his trajectory. The issue is fine overall, but it can be a little boring at times. What Jurgens really needs to start doing, is weaving together these plotlines he's creating. Each arc has introduced something incredible for the Batman Beyond universe, but none of these moments (Joker, Barbara/ Batgirl, Damian, Matt, and Max) beyond it's reveal or foreshadowing. Because of this, the title feels a little incohesive, so I'd love to see textures of these elements continue throughout every arc. Read Full Review

There is not much to Batman Beyond. The art is ok, but as for the story, the issues are pretty average.
