  Comic Bastards - Dustin Cabeal

  A lot of readers probably think of Oeming as an artist first, writer second which is inaccurate. He’s what I call a “creator” the perfect balance between writer and artist that produces amazing comics that stand the test of time and that people latch on to. The Victories is very different from your typical superhero book and more than likely when it finishes its story it will be something that no one else will be able to replicate. It falls into that great creator owned realm of books that everyone loves/talks about, but that no one else can touch. The Victories is in its own class and you’re not likely to see repeats any time soon. Read Full Review

  The Victories is a five issue minieseries. Whethar it's going to focus on a different "Victory" each issue, or follow the story between Faustus and the Jackal, I don't know. But it starts off pretty darn solid, and certainly very gruesome and rough-edged. If that's your thing, so might The Victories be. Read Full Review

  Loaded with expletives, gory disembodiments and other excessively disgustingly foul acts, this story doesn't do much to entice readers to return for any further installments, despite some bold art choices in the non-offensive scenes. "The Victories" #1 was more than enough for me to thank Oeming for sharing his ideas and leave them for fans more apt to enjoy them in a way I simply cannot. Read Full Review

  This story wasn't as hard a hit as one would hope from Oeming's outing as a writer. The story lived up to one point- it is the raunchiest superhero book since The Boys, but that's about all it has going for it. While I will wait for the second issue, this one may be one to save for the trade if you're interested in it at all. I give The Victories #1 a 2/5 Read Full Review

  If you like swearing, blood, and a lack of originality (and swearing, did I mention swearing?), then this is the book for you. For those who want a darker themed super-hero take, you might as well go and pick up a copy of Kick-Ass.
