The second act of this Darth Maul adventure storms onto the scene with a flurry of activity that is sure to please any action fan but it saves its most choice selection of prime grade material in the late twist that sets up an incredible hook as the entire common knowledge of the Star Wars universe may face a sizable tilting on its head. While there is a chance this may end up being a tale of the scorpion like climax, there is an uncertainty to things that is rare in the Star Wars comic universe and which makes this easily an issue any Star Wars comic fan should pick up. I've been critical of Tom Taylor's recent work, but he and his art team have sold me on this series. If they can keep delivering crescendos of this type, I may be picking this series up in trade in addition to the individual issues. I even like the use of the villagers as Shakespearean narrators. I wish so badly that this was a new ongoing series under the Star Wars banner. I can hope that both Taylor and Maul will be back for another story arc in the future. Until then though, I will be enjoying and re-reading Death Sentence, terrific value for your money and a must-have for fans of Star Wars, sci-fi, badass villains and great comics. Read Full Review

Darth Maul has the potential to carry his own book and this initial mini-series is proving that out. He doesn't have to be a mindless killer or simply a weapon to be used by Palpatine. This issue is a good mix of action, story and character exploration. If you are a fan of the character I think you will enjoy this book. Read Full Review
