Star Wars #8

If youre a Star Wars fan, new or old, theres no reason not to pick this book up. Start at the beginning so you can claim you were here all along, because this book is going to be one that is remembered years from now as one of the best pieces of Star Wars media ever released. That may sound hyperbolic, but I assure you this book earns every word of praise Ive heaped upon it by not only overcoming incredible odds AS a Star Wars Expanded Universe title, but being a great comic book in its own right. The cast has grown to include characters of varying alien races and genders, which gives this series the same sort of growing diversity that separated Empire Strikes Back from A New Hope. And whereas the original trilogy was stark black and white, good versus evil, this comic has players on both sides that you are rooting for or against. Overall, if you haven't been reading this series, you are missing out! If you have been reading, Star Wars #8 will not let you down. I'm very excited to see what happens next and I'm curious how the story will change once our primary characters (Luke, Solo, Leia, etc) come back together and stand on the same ship again. Without spoiling anything, I can recommend this book to anybody, whether you're picking it up for the first time or you've been rabidly anticipating this book. Star Wars #8 is a solid continuation of a great on-going series; its certainly not my favorite Star Wars series right now, with that title falling to Legacy or Dark Times, but its the Empire era as it hasnt been explored in comics for 30 years. This is a must buy if youre a Star Wars fan, but Id recommend you only read it if youre not hard-core into Star Wars. Read Full Review

Star Wars #8 gives us separate stories involving all three of the big name characters as well offering readers appearances by Bossk, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader. Fans should feel right at home. Worth a look. Read Full Review

Really entertaining issue that completely delivers on the action. Wood is able to balance 4 storylines at once without short changing any of the characters. I want to see some more from Luke and Wedge bromance.

. . $3, 22pgs. solid B cover. 4 interrupting AD pgs. . . This series continues to improve and impress by faithfully building upon the post episode IV universe. This issue we get plenty of Solo/Fett action and spaceship battles! Luke and Wedge gamble becoming captives to infiltrate the empire! And a mystery character for Leia, that has me very intrigued! Brian Wood is serving up a dream series for Olde-Skool Star Wars kids, now in their adulthood, and SW fans in general. I am excited to see him take on the original characters and develop the universe without pollution for the decades of spin-offs and stay true to the old characters and universe of the original movies. Kelly, Parsons and Eltaeb collaborate well together to bring us an excell ent effort in the artwork of this book. While there is the odd storm trooper and a pierced ear on Luke, the illustration has been excellent overall. I highly recommend this series, especially if you long to return to the Original SW! more
