Its sure good to have this book feeling like a Star Wars comic again, and now that were back on form, it should have the reader looking forward to next months issue for the first time in a while, especially with the cliffhanger that sees things go from bad to worse for the Rebels. Yes, we know theyre going to get out of here eventually and all in one piece for the events of Empire Strikes Back but the fun will be seeing how they do it, because the odds at this point are pretty stacked against the characters. Star Wars has been a fantastic read issue to issue. The book's strength is that captures everything that makes Star Wars as fresh today as it was nearly forty years ago. This issue is one of those payoff issues that you've been waiting for. This issue mostly advances the plot machinations of the dubious dealings of some of the Arrochar factions, and leads right up to a very rousing cliffhanger promising loads of frantic action. There's apparently only 3 issues of this run left, so I'm curious where the arc will end. Read Full Review

As aStar Warscomics fan, it's easy to feel a little nervous about what's on the horizon. There are a lot of moving parts that more than likely revolve around the success of the seventh movie. Brian Wood's series, along withLegacy, have been the strongcoreof the current Dark Horse lineup. A disappointingly weak plot during this arc might actually turn into an impressive, rousing resolution, so it would be worthwhile to stick around for the rest of the year. It's still unknown whether these events will lead into the final mission (or, more unlikely, the original intended stopping point), butStar Warsis indeed back on the rise. Star Wars #17 may not be the best entry of this volume, but it is an engaging adventure that instantly transports me to a time where I held a blaster with a Darth Vader helmet to boot. Recommended. Read Full Review

I feel that Brian Wood took a little longer than was necessary in setting up this story arc, meaning that the previous few issues of Star Wars were less exciting than normal. Now that the plot has turned, however, I think well see the series get back to its action roots. As the series moves towards its conclusion, hopefully well have the Empire, and especially Darth Vader, become a bigger focus. Read Full Review

The return of Obi-Wan‘s guidance helps save Luke's life and prepare him for the deception to come, but I wonder home much of Ben's ghostly wisdom the comic should and/or will use going forward as Luke's own instincts should have likely warned him of the danger (even with his only limited understanding of the Force). The issue has a few redeeming qualities, like Stephane Crety's wonderful art (sans the cartoonish evil grins on all the villains faces) and some good action sequences. The plot, unfortunately, is so contrived and ridiculous it makes the entire thing very unenjoyable to read. Read Full Review

While i am a little disappointed at hoe dumb the rebellion is being written, this is an excellent series. Now that we have suffered through watching them fall into a trap, over several issues, things start heating up! Some very good moves and action in this issue, along with quality art efforts. Their is one disconnect in how Skywalker fakes his death but suddenly the enemy is on his tail, without being spotted. Clearly a writing/ plotting problem. Still highly recommended, especially for old SW fans!
