Serenity: No Power In The Verse #2 wastes little time getting into the thick of this story and the Serenity crew's place in the universe right now. Overall, issuetwo builds nicely on the series, bringing up all the same feelings you felt watching the television show, and with the sad news of the passing of Ron Glass this week, it is a trulynecessary purchase for any Firefly fans out there. Serenity: No Power in the Verse continues to be like visiting an old friend, albeit one that had plastic surgery and doesn't quite look right from some angles. While the writing captures the voice and the language and the art captures the setting, the characters are definitely off model and inconsistently drawn. It's not enough to truly hamper my enjoyment, but it does hurt it a little bit. Read Full Review

Serenity: No Power in the Verse #2 still isn't terrible and has some fun and exciting moments, like any time Jayne pops up, the reveal that the crew of Serenity could possibly be involved in a plot to take down the Alliance forever instead of just getting by, and the big hand to hand fight at the end, to balance out the pedestrian art. As fun as it is seeing River Tam kick ass, the rest of the issue drags quite a bit. We're hit with a large amount of exposition, including a big speech/dressing down of Simon by Captain Reynolds"which is usually a good thing. But while Chris Roberson nails Mal's cadence and delivery, I honestly don't see him taking the cold position that he did. Read Full Review

That's really all I've got for this issue. It's not bad, but definitely a step back from a much stronger first issue. Plots were moved forward, art had some great moments, but still is figuring out characters. As a whole series however, I still think they're moving in the right direction. They've given almost everyone on the crew something to worry about and I'mintrigued to see how it's all going to play out. Read Full Review

After a real promising start, with issue #1, SERENITY: NO POWER IN THE 'VERSE #2 was disappointing, to say the least. The characterization was way, way off here...especially with regards to Mal and River (I won't waste time citing specifics...if you're a fan, you can't miss it). SCORE: 6.4 (If I'm being honest, the score was, probably, lower. I think that last point came from my love of the property.)
