  Warner and Velasco each have a firm grasp on the inherent appeal of the Predator franchise, and deserve all the credit in the world for managing to pay homage to that while simultaneously flipping the entire 'hunter and prey' dynamic on its head. A fantastic start to a brand new series then, and a welcome return to the sweat-soaked, pulse-pounding blend of action and horror that made the classic 80s movie such a runaway success.   The art by Francisco Ruiz Velasco has a nice blend of violence and realism so far. The issue manages to contrast the present and the past, with each standing out. I'm curious to see they use that style in upcoming issues. Read Full Review

  Predator is a hard property to get right simply because the Predators themselves are so inaccessible even after all these years, something I talked about regularly in past reviews of other related books. The Predator in this one gets some time early on and we see a couple of others, but mostly it's about assembling the human team that's going to go hunting the Predators themselves. It's a decent setup and one that hits all the right points in introducing the who and why of it all but hasn't made it compelling just yet. You could almost view this as a "zero issue" in a way as it's all setup with the main event to get underway in the next issue. With a five-issue run that works well enough and I do appreciate the time spent getting to know who the dying will be. Read Full Review

  This miniseries has potential, and fans of the license would be making a mistake if they didn't at least keep an eye on future issues. While Warner's writing leaves a lot to be desired, especially in regards to characters, Velasco's utterly fantastic art could prove to be the only selling point this comic needs, even if it's underutilized here.
