Hellboy: Buster Oakley Gets His Wish #1

Buster Oakley Gets His Wish consists of panel after panel of Hellboy and the Boy-Cow beating the living crap out of anal probing aliens, their clunky robots and gooey spider-things. A lot of story? No, but it's just enough for a hilarious gag on urban legends, and Kevin Nowlan's take on Hellboy will make you giddy. I think Buster Oakley Gets His Wish is poetry. Read Full Review

It might be over too quickly, but that just gives you more time to start over and really focus on every line of Kevin Nowlan's fantastic work. Hellboy comics are one of a kind, and this particular one, well, is there a something lower, rarer than one of a kind? Read Full Review

Hellboy one shots are generally the kind of books that are good to great no matter what the contents contain. The character just lends itself towards stories that can be set anywhere at any point in time and still be enjoyable. This one walks one of the oddest lines to date. If you are looking to dip you toe into the Hellboy universe then this should give you an entertaining read. For those that aren't thrilled with Hellboy interacting with aliens…well…this one might make you cringe. Either way it's a solid book. Read Full Review
